Approx 24-32 hours per week, flexible (SCHOOL HOLIDAYS ONLY)

Essential Skills/Traits:
  • Minimum of 2+ years SEN childcare experience
  • Energetic, engaging, and proactive 
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn alternative communication methods
  • Calm, patient, and emotionally regulated
  • Full clean UK driving licence
  • Able to follow a neurodiversity-affirming approach that prioritises the child’s sensory needs, communication style, and autonomy.
  • Confident supporting play-based learning, encouraging independence and interaction through child-led activities.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to build a positive, safe, and supportive relationship with the child and family.

Main duties/responsibilities
  • Provide attentive, safe, and nurturing care for B7 during school holidays, ensuring close supervision due to limited danger awareness while encouraging safe exploration and independent play where appropriate.
  • Support and engage in his preferred sensory and play-based activities, including water play, trampolining, swimming, outdoor garden play, and his interests such as “Hey Duggee”.
  • Facilitate both structured and unstructured 1:1 play opportunities to promote interaction, communication, and enjoyment
  • Support emotional regulation, helping B7 manage feelings of overwhelm and gently reinforcing boundaries in a calm, consistent, and understanding manner.
  • Promote independence skills in daily routines, including dressing, transitioning between activities, and building awareness of personal safety.
  • Support development of fine motor skills through engaging activities such as jigsaws, fishing games, and other play-based tasks.
  • Prepare and provide simple meals and snacks throughout the day in line with his preferences, as he mainly eats snack-style foods.
  • Transport B7 to local activities such as swimming pools, playgrounds, or splash parks
  • Support toileting independence where appropriate, with experience in potty training considered a bonus due to his current toileting patterns.
